If you've read our mission statement, you know that everything you buy through FarmDeliver is grown and harvested by independent farmers in and around the Treasure Valley area and Southern Idaho. Even in the middle of winter!
What to Expect in Your FarmDeliver Box this Winter, 2026
You'll be receiving a more repetitive selection of produce that can survive Idaho's winter. This includes:
- Vegetables that were harvested late but store well such as onions, potatoes, carrots and garlic
- Cold weather crops that can survive in a high tunnel when it's cold outside, such as kale, spinach and some herbs
- Produce that can be grown indoors such as microgreens, lettuces, baby greens and mushrooms
- Preserved produce such as canned fruit and dried herbs
With this shift in selection, some households will prefer to switch to an Everything Farm Box this winter, which focuses less on produce to include meat and pantry items as well. You could alternatively lighten your Seasonal Produce Box subscriptions to bi-weekly or monthly orders, or you can continue to enjoy these staples weekly.
Introducing Greenscale & Mtn2Valley Herbs
This month, we'll be welcoming Greenscale to FarmDeliver. Greenscale is a new hydroponic and aquaponic farming facility in Boise that will be supplying the Treasure Valley with nutritious leafy greens according to these sustainability principles:
- 1/10th water usage of field-grown produce (field grown produce offers its own sustainability advantages, but this water cutback is a critical advantage of hydroponic-aquaponic farming)
- Zero industrial chemicals, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers
Also this month, Mtn2Valley Herbs will be supplying us with dried herbs harvested this past growing season in a neighborhood farm in Kuna.
As you nourish your body this winter, perhaps over a bowl of mushroom potato soup, take pride in knowing you are also nourishing the environment and contributing to food security in the Treasure Valley.
While many rely on food flown in by plane or trucked great distances, we are blessed in our state to have an abundance of families and teams who are skilled in and called to the work of growing food. Just as importantly, we have families and individuals like you who make the smart choice to eat local so those farms can exist, ensuring future generations experience the security that comes from having accessible, local food.
