Also known as pineapple mint this herb gives out a sweet scent that seems like a cross between spearmint and apples. The leaves have a slight fruity flavor so this is an excellent form of mint for fruity desserts and beverages.  

We keep this on hand in spring through fall as part of the perennial garden and value it’s medicinal properties. The crushed leaves of this plant reduce the pain caused by bee stings, wasp stings and other insect bites. They bring about a cooling effect on the affected part of the body.

Apple mint leaves used in tea help in breaking down fat and accelerating the metabolism. The leaves also contain nutrients like iron, potassium, calcium, vitamin A and C which need to be continually replenished in our bodies.
